A co-operative effort between the Mary River Catchment Co-ordinating Committee and Luke Barrowcliff's Goorie Vision under the Caring for Country banner has collated a vast array of information on the history of the Mary River catchment. Dr Tanzi Smith and Mr Barrowcliffe co-ordinated the project which involved travelling to different locations throughout the catchment and filming, listening and interviewing residents of that area. Greenwich Village Oral History Project
Storytellers and interviewers in an ambitious oral history project came together last month at Jefferson Market Library to celebrate their effort to preserve the past. For five months, volunteers worked to record neighborhood tales from people who have lived, worked or spent more than 20 years in the area for “Your Village, Your Story: A Greenwich Village Oral History Project.” Successfully archived, the stories are now accessible online. Gibraltar Oral History
The Chief Minister was in London on Thursday 15 May where he received, on behalf of the People of Gibraltar, an important new historical archive recording the years 1930 to 1970, a formative period in the modern history of Gibraltar. For full story click here.
Greek Proxy Brides Project
Dr Panayota Nazou's Proxy Brides: Experiences and Testimonies of Greek Women in Australia (1950-1971) was launched in Sydney, with more than 200 people attending, including some of the 'proxy brides' whose personal accounts contributed to the writing of the book. For full story click here.

Matchmaking for Post War Greek Immigrants
A book on arranged marriages between the first Greek immigrants to Australia and the experiences of the brides will be presented on Wednesday, April 23, at Rockdale Town Hall. “Proxy Brides: Experiences and Testimonies of Greek Women in Australia (1950-1971)” by Dr Panayota Nazou, will be launched by the Hon Sophie Cotsis and Professor Vrasidas Karalis. Boston Marathon Tragedy Remembered
It was 2.49 pm EDT when two home-made bombs – separated by 14 seconds – killed three people and injured more than 250 others near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Gay & Lesbian Australians Project
Australian Lesbian and Gay Life Stories, a national oral history project currently underway, seeks to explore this transformation further. The project is a collaboration between the National Library of Australia, Macquarie University and two other Australian universities, supported by funding from the Australian Research Council. Different generations of gay and lesbian individuals will provide insight into what it has been like to live a gay or lesbian life in Australia from the 1940s to the present, when attitudes have shifted so remarkably. Coffs Harbour City Library turns 50
"The library will also be launching its '50 Stories' project on the day, an innovative project using an online blog site and digital media to showcase its history and its impact on users over the years," Library manager Enzo Accadia said.
